"“Nice stay in Big Bear” We rate Golden Bear 5 of 5 stars! Just like the last reviewer I saw on TripAdvisor, I too won a weekend trip to Big Bear for 4. 2 night stay at Golden Bear Cottages & tickets to the Oktoberfest. When we arrived they had a 2 person cabin reserved for us b/c the trip was suppose to be for 2 pp but the radio station told me 4pp so I went up with my husband & 2 children. It was a little awkward at first. Lisa at the front desk called her Dad about the mix up & after she hung up with him she went ahead & upgraded us to a bigger cabin at no extra charge. The cabin was nice. Just what I expected for a cabin in the mountains. It was warm, comfortable & very cozy. All the rooms in the cabin are decent size. The 2 recliners in the living room were pretty comfy! Me & my husband actually fell asleep in them on our 2nd night. There were 4 beds upstairs, 2 full or queen & 2 twin size. They were comfortable & the bedding was very warm! There is also free wi-fi. There was an outside area near our cabin where my kids loved to run around, take pictures of the large trees & collect pine cones. After pulling into the resort for the first time, I noticed that I had actually stayed there about 10 yrs ago with 4 other families in one of their larger cabins which is 5 bedrooms. The owner Don gave me a tour of the newly upgraded cabin before we left on Sunday. It's awesome! Very nice & roomy! All the appliances looked to be newly upgraded & the bathrooms were big with jacuzzi baths. I am planning our next trip there with a few other families to go back when it is snowing in Big Bear Lake."

"“Sweet Get Away” Review also posted on TripAdvisor. We just had a sweet getaway at Golden Bear Cottages in Big Bear. We have stayed here about 3 times now. Right off, Lisa upgraded our room, and what a neat cabin it was, with kitchen and jacuzzi. Cute, clean, cozy....we had a real relaxing time. The staff is super friendly, consistent, and treats you like family, with emails about specials and recreation ideas in Big Bear Lake too. An email prompted us to go this fall, and we had the best 'moderate' hike up Castle Rock Trail. We bought a beautiful sweater in their gift shop. Also had a crisp walk behind the property on quiet, secluded streets, just gorgeous. They are easy to find on the main boulevard, yet we feel like we are secluded in the pines. Golden Bear Cottages is AAA approved and have charming cabins of all sizes. We stayed this time in October 2013. We traveled as a couple."

"Review of a Family Friendly Resort. We also posted this review on TripAdvisor so our friends could find out about this great family owned and operated lodge in Big Bear Lake. We spent our New Years holiday vacation week at Golden Bear Cottages. The cabin was comfy, clean and had all the essentials we needed to feel like home. "Golden Bear Cottages is a nice large size property with lots of big pine trees. Lots of cottages and cabins and with areas to gather and picnic etc. They are family operated and have been in business for years. Our family and friends have been going to Golden Bear Cottages since 1997. Golden Bear's located near the beautiful west end of the lake yet close enough to the village, lake and slopes. The cabins/cottages/rooms are great for anyone- individuals, couples, families or friends. With lots of space and different lodging options available they will also accommodate groups and reunions etc. The cabins are clean and have the necessary amenities for a mountain stay. You can pick from a variety of cabin sizes and prices. Golden Bear is convenient and access is quick and easy to find after driving up the mountain. We refer family or friends and visitors here as well and we all enjoy our experience. Lisa usually answers our phone calls or she's at the desk and she is always super helpful with any arrangements we have made for ourselves or others! "GETAWAY SPOT!'' My girlfriend and I drove to Big Bear to spend a getaway at the Golden Bear Cottages! This was our second stay at the cottages and of course, DON always tends to make us feel like family. He really listens to your wants in a cabin and offers you the best cabin to suit your needs. The cabins are cozy and equipped with all the essentials for cooking (or town is just a mile away for your eating pleasure). If you have plans to visit Big Bear, be sure to check out Golden Bear Cottages. We won't stay anywhere else when we plan a vacation or just an overnight getaway to Big Bear Lake! "The SNOW went from good yesterday at Golden Bear Cottages to excellent today. We just love Golden Bear Cottages warm family feel and family run cottages. Our family enjoys being together in the outdoors and we do not have all of the noise and distractions of being in a hotel. We have made it a tradition to come up every year to your family friendly resort on our birthdays. What a great place to come for the snow!!"

"“WONDERFUL GETAWAY” Top Destination in Big Bear Lake. Reviewed 3 days ago NEW. THIS place was very good for kids and/or IF YOU AND YOUR HUNNY WANT TO GET AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS OR MORE. The hot tub inside for two WAS AMAZING AND REALLY FITS TWO PEOPLE!! If you have children, then you must go here, because it is not just a hotel. They have basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, ping pong, shuffleboard and more. Don't forget if you love to BBQ then it even gets better. They have private BBQS in front of your cabin. The staff is so nice. Tip: all cabins are on the main grounds and have activities mentioned above, and are perfect if you have children. We stayed in February 2014, and traveled with our large family. We also posted our review of this great family place for others to see on TripAdvisor"

"'Nowhere else like it! Golden Bear Cottages resort is a family favorite for us to stay for vacation getaways. We've been repeat visitors for the last thirty years! The customer service exceeds any I have ever had - genuine, gracious and a joy to do business with. The constantly updated cabins are homey and comfortable, and supply all the basic amenities. It's our home away from home - we would recommend to anyone and everyone! We all give Golden Bear Cottages the top rating for - Value, Location, Sleeping Quality, Non-hotel Private Cabins, Cleanliness and Guest Service. Our last stay was in November 2013. "We took a much needed vacation with my family of 4 in Big Bear and found this lovely set of independent cottages that were great for the price that we paid. Our historic restored cabin had a Jacuzzi, two bedrooms and one bathroom. The cleanliness, amenities, closeness to the lake and shops, and quietness was perfect and the staff very responsive to our needs. We would go back there on our next vacation! "“4th of July 2014 Holiday Vacation” Top Review: 5 of 5 stars! We booked Cabin #21 for 4 days during the 4th of July holiday and we had a great stay at Golden Bear Cottages. Lisa checked us in a little early since we arrived early afternoon. She is always so welcoming and so pleasant to our family. Our cabin was nice and clean and ready for our stay. The dining area kitchen was nice and roomy with lots or space to move around and cook.This is a great feature since our family spent all the time in the cabin in the dining area. All our needs and requests were taken care of very quickly when we needed more towels. Our cabin also had a newly installed custom pull out king size bed/sofa for an extra bed downstairs which I thought was a great feature for anyone who couldn't climb the stairs to the 2 bedrooms. The bed was very comfy and easy to pull out at night and easy to push back into a couch during the day. The pool was just the right temperature and area was very clean and maintained. We enjoyed browsing the cute gift shop in the office and we were able to check out games for the family to play. The owner even gave us a nice tip for viewing the firework show in an easy and clear spot for viewing. We had a very good return experience and enjoyed our stay very much. "“The perfect get away!” 5 of 5 stars - Reviewed. My family and I recently stayed there for the four day busy holiday weekend this Fourth of July and it was perfect. We had such a nice quiet time and so relaxing we didn't want to go back home Sunday. It was so nice being on the outskirts of Big Bear in this beautiful non-hotel away from the huge crowds yet not to far away from where we needed to go. All of the staff was informative and helpful and helped us navigate our way to a good spot for the fireworks or where to do fun activities and eat. This is hands down my favorite place to stay in Big Bear Lake. I also posted this great review of our stay on TripAdvisor. Cabin Tip: Look at all the selections and pictures and call if your looking for something specific for your family or group. Stayed in July 2014 and traveled with family. Rating for Golden Bear Cottages: Location - 5 of 5 stars. Cabins - 5 of 5 stars. Guest Service - 5 of 5 stars."

"Our Best Review. “4th of July Spectacular!!” My girlfriend Alice has been raving about this place for years, so we took them up on an offer to spend 4th of July holiday period here and couldn't be happier. The place was spacious, clean and had everything this giant group needed for a 4 day weekend. I like to cook, and the cabins were complete with all you need to feed a crowd (including our own BBQ), plus plenty of room for us all to sit at the table and eat together or play games. They have a cute little gift shop and and area where you can check out every kind of game imaginable. We had just as much fun staying in, playing games as we did going out into the town. It was 4th of July weekend and the location of Golden Bear Cottages is just across the road from a marina, so we didn't even have to hassle with the crowds. We just crossed the road and set up chairs to watch the fabulous fireworks. Thank you Lisa, one of the owners, for that great tip! When we weren't playing games or watching fire works, we were playing in the pool and the jacuzzi. Both were warm and clean and well taken care of. They even have separate towels to use when you're at the pool. We were on the outskirts of Big Bear, which made it nice to travel around in less traffic, because of the holiday, but close enough that a 5 minute drive (probably a lot less without traffic) was all it took to head over to the village and walk around to all the fun shops. Don, one of the owners, is the nicest guy you could meet. We had a great conversation with him and he even took the time to let us look at a couple other cabins so we could decide now, which one we'd like to reserve for next year. Oh ya! There will be a next year and hopefully a couple mini stays in between this Fall and Winter! Golden Bear Cottages is the best place to vacation in Big Bear Lake."

"THE BEST PLACE WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN BIG BEAR ,CA. We would like to thank Lisa & Len for everything they did for us. My husband is sick with cancer and they made our stay there the best ! They upgraded our cabin with no questions asked they also went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed. When it came time to checkout there was no rush like at other places. We booked another stay for the long Labor Day weekdend holiday before we checked out. If you are looking for a real nice place to stay with real people who care then Golden Bear Cottages is it !!!"

"One of my new favorite spots in Big Bear! I visited Big Bear over twenty years ago, and still remember coming here. Upon arrival, I made a U-turn and found not only Golden Bear Cottages, but it was nicer than what I remembered, Don, the owner greeted me with a smile! We did not have a reservation, but one cottage opened up once we arrived, making it a win-win situation! The service that Don gave my kiddos and I was superb! We felt comfortable in our spacious Cottage, complete with four beds, a full sized kitchen, and a comfy living room! The kids didn't even want to leave! I would recommend stocking up on groceries before you come, and be ready to BBQ! This place is great for kids, as the pool and Jacuzzi were hopping with them! We enjoyed the Ping Pong Table, Playground, and just walking the grounds. While we were there, I even booked my next stay! Be sure to check out the Golden Bear Cottages! You will not be disappointed!"

"Just returned home to Mexico after an excellent one week stay in a 3 bedroom mountain cabin rental at Golden Bear Cottages Resort. This is really a nice place. Imagine a restored historic cabin built in the very early 1900's when all that was in Big Bear Lake were bears, mountain lions and other wildlife. That is exactly what we got. The rustic mountain cabin we called home for the last week was completely restored. The floors were real wood. The kitchen had the original cabinets restored to their antique charm, and all the appliances were nearly new. The beds were comfortable, and the cabin had a nice Jacuzzi tub off one of the two bathrooms. Each day the maids came to help us by cleaning whatever we asked for. The maintenance man also came to routinely service the spa tub. Each of the staff was accommodating and very helpful. The office at Golden Bear Cottages Resort also has a fully stocked gift shop run by the friendliest owners we have ever met at a lodging property, and they were gracious to all of our family including our children who bugged them dozens of times a day to borrow balls and games and movies. We purchased some nice mountain gifts before going home. We don't write many reviews, but this is one we are very happy to write and share about our excellent mountain vacation in Big Bear Lake."

"Had a wonderful weekend getaway at Golden Bear Cottages! The cabin was designed with a warm and cozy feeling. We had a fun time playing volleyball and swimming in the heated pool and enjoying S'mores in the evening around the group fire pit. The staff was very friendly and gracious. "Review and Compliment. Our Top rating is posted on Yelp. This place is great! Came up for just a weekend and had no idea what to expect. When we arrived we were told the type of cabin we originally booked was not ready yet so they gave us a free upgrade to an even nicer cabin! The women behind the desk (Lisa) was very friendly and helpful. She let us know some fun places in Big Bear to check out as we had never been before. The cabin itself was perfect. It was clean, comfy, had a fireplace, Jacuzzi, fully stocked kitchen, private BBQ grill, and a great view of the stars at night. It was the perfect place to get away from the city for a few nights on a long weekend. We will definitely be coming back to this great place!"

We left as soon as I got off of work. I knew we would be arriving late that night. We called to let them know. They waited for us several hours. My kids loved this place. We felt very safe there. The place is awesome and the grounds are very nice and very clean too. Cabins are pretty big and cozy,and let's not talk about the indoor Jacuzzi tubs: they are amazing. "WE LOVE BIG BEAR AND GOLDEN BEAR COTTAGES. MY HUSBAND AND 10 OF OUR BESTEST FRIENDS STAYED IN CABINS NOVEMBER 11 AND 12 AND I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER 30TH BIRTHDAY PARTY. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THESE CABINS AT GOLDEN BEAR WITH MY FAMILY FOR YEARS AND NOW IT'S MY TURN TO TAKE MY FAMILY. THE STAFF IS AMAZING/FRIENDLY AND YOU ALWAYS FEEL AT HOME. "Best vacation ever!!! We give Golden Bear Cottages Resort 5 of 5 stars. Just reviewed on TripAdvisor. Our family stayed at Golden Bear Cottages resort with our 3 kids and have never had so much fun on a vacation. We felt so blessed to be given an upgrade to a bigger cabin for no extra charge. The office people and staff were so nice and we loved cabin 16!! For larger families, make sure that you get a cabin with enough beds, just like ours.”Thank you Golden Bear. "Family friendly, cozy cabins! Recently reviewed via mobile. Look at all the selections of cabins they have and call if your looking for something specific; every cottage has something special and unique about it. I can not say enough great things about Golden Bear and the friendly people who work there! We had a long drive up to Big Bear, but felt right at home when we checked into our cabin. The sweet girl at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. The cabin was darling and they had already turned the heat on for us, so it was warm and cozy. Our children had a great time sledding and playing in the snow. :) We can't wait to plan our next trip up to Big Bear! Soon! Thank you!"
