“Great Corp. Retreat - Wonderful Experience”
Just what a mountain cabin should be like ! We came up for a long weekend for a corporate retreat and were provided with wonderful story book cabins. It was picturesque on the outside and wonderfully homey and cozy on the inside. The cabins were clean and the furnishings made us immediately comfortable. Also, Golden Bear’s staff was completely welcoming and friendly. They treated us all like family and helped us choose great restaurants and the best sites to visit during the trip. They are located in a great spot that is close to the lake and marinas and not too close to down town so you don’t have to worry about the crazy traffic that can build up during peak season, but still close to a lot of great attractions, which made it easy to organize team building activities. The cleaning staff was great and we always came back to a spotless cabin, which made the trip for me all the more enjoyable. Among our whole company group there wasn’t one complaint, and the most have mentioned to me how they can’t wait to bring their families up to Golden Bear on their next personal vacations.
I highly recommend this cabin resort to all of our friends and can’t wait to go back next year!"

"“LOVED IT. We were NOT disappointed by our return family visit to Golden Bear Cottages”.
This quiet rustic cabin resort is what we wanted when we first visited a few years ago. When we traveled to the U.S. this year, we are so happy we returned to stay at Golden Bear! The office staff once again suggested the perfect cabin when we called to reserve this year. When we got there it was once again just like they described: great! This year we vacationed with our own extended family members for the first week of August. The weather was cool during the day,in the 70's and at night in the mid 50's. What a welcome change from the heat where we live in Mexico. Now that we have returned home, we are still thinking about those cool days, great times and experiences again Golden Bear Cottages. We strongly recommend this rustic family Christian resort. It is always a great value for family vacations. Thanks to Lisa and all the great staff. We will visit you again when we return to the U.S. for vacation in the coming years. This was our second wonderful trip to Golden Bear Cottages. "This place is great! Just got back yesterday from a 7 day trip, and we all had a blast! This was our second time staying at this property, because they are very family friendly. This time we brought our dog, and our cabin had a small enclosed backyard with a high fence. A great mountain retreat experience in our beautiful cozy vacation cabin. The cabins, and the grounds here are clean, and the owners are very nice and accommodating!
The only issue we had was having a problem with our DVD/VCR...we called the office and within 5 minutes a nice maintenance man named Domingo was there to check out the problem. He messed with it for maybe 10 minutes then he unplugged it, left for a couple of minutes, and came back with a new VCR. He hooked it up, and we were back in business! The whole issue maybe took 20 minutes to fix, and they were so nice during the repair process!
Also, during the summer on Saturday nights they have movie night on a big screen TV at the pool for the kids, and their parents.
These are very nice folks, with a great family friendly property where pets are welcome too, I highly recommend giving them a try for your vacation getaway!"

"First of all, let me apologize for not doing this sooner! Seems that when someone gets what they perceive as bad service or just wants to complain, they don't waste any time writing a nasty review. But when you have an absolutely incredible experience, writing a review doesn't seem so urgent, because you are satisfied. Well, I am now taking the time out to RAVE about Golden Bear Cottages. In the past two years, we have stayed at these great cabins three different times. And each time we go, it seems they just keep getting better. We will not stay anywhere else in Big Bear (unless of course, they are booked, which would be very understandable considering how great they are). This is a family owned business, and we have met nearly the whole family and adore them all. But LISA has been the most accommodating, sweet, personable, caring, considerate person I have ever dealt with when staying at a hotel/ cabin, etc. PERIOD. BAR NONE! She has accommodated our needs and beyond. We always are taken care of, whether it's a price break for staying a lengthy period of time, or simply, a late check out or early check in. We have stayed in #27 Fuzzy Bear, #7 Knotty Pine, and #10 Lazy Days. They all rock! The last time I was there, Lisa put us in #10 Lazy Days, and we didn't want to leave. These cabins are clean, fully functional, and include prompt housekeeping. Some cabins are PET-FRIENDLY, and some cabins have HOT-TUBS inside. Seriously consider this your first stop in Big Bear, and relax in one of Golden Bear's incredible cabins. A true vacation every time! Your friend,

"Went to Golden Bear Cottages with a large group of college friends for a weekend, had an absolutely fantastic time. Wonderful staff who really took care of us. Excellent location, nice homey feel in all the cabins. Would absolutely recommend to anyone interested in a weekend in Big Bear.

"This was our third wonderful stay at Golden Bear Cottages. We always like to stay there for our wedding anniversary. We appreciate the friendliness and cleanliness. Don is a super sweet host and very accommodating as he understood that we wanted to stay in cottage # 27 since our anniversary is on that same day. It's our own silly, romantic thing, but the kind people at Golden Bear understood. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you"

"Great time at the Golden Bear Cottages!
We had a great time at this family friendly mountain resort. The fireplace is cozy. It was great hearing the kids running through the park having a great time. It is a great family atmosphere. I felt safe and would come here again with kids to go skiing, or a girls trip. I spent this one with my husband and we will for sure come back and visit again. I was very impressed with the friendly greeting and the checking out process. I sat and talked to the owners for a bit and felt like i have known them for years. Cant wait to go back there since there has been a bunch of new snow. We give the Golden Bear Cottages 5 of 5 stars!"

"Nowhere else like it!
Golden Bear Cottages resort is a family favorite for us to stay for vacation getaways. We've been repeat visitors for the last thirty years! The customer service exceeds any I have ever had - genuine, gracious and a joy to do business with. The constantly updated cabins are homey and comfortable, and supply all the basic amenities. It's our home away from home - we would recommend to anyone and everyone!
We all give Golden Bear Cottages the top rating for - Value, Location, Sleeping Quality, Non-hotel Private Cabins, Cleanliness and Guest Service. Our last stay was in November 2013. We traveled with our extended family from California and we all stayed together in one big cabin. We also love your new website HotelBigBear.com. Hotel Big Bear.com is the perfect place for people searching for a mountain vacation in a private cottage or fully stocked cabin rental that have hotel services, but don't want to stay in a hotel. They want a non-hotel."

"Imagine a beautiful rustic cottage in the woods...that is what we always get, and it is so great to have time to visit with the family who owns this beautiful mountain resort and takes so much pride in it. We stayed this trip in Snuggle Bear, it was so adorable. I always feel like I am in grandma's house--so warm and cozy. My husband caught a glimpse of the raccoon family that lives near the cottage one night and another time we enjoyed the squirrels that were playing out front during the day. These historic cottages are not all new and modern because they were built over 100 years ago, but fancy is not what you want in a mountain cabin. The beds are always comfortable, the interior of each cabin is warm and so cozy, and we have every thing we need. Their staff were very friendly and helpful and more than accommodating this time as well as the first. Golden Bear Cottages is in a very convenient location, only a block from the lake and just about a mile from Big Bear Lake's famous village. The cabins are private, so I did not hear any noise from any other cottages either. We can't wait to travel back again to Big Bear Lake and we will definitely stay at Golden Bear Cottages again. My ratings for this beautiful family run Christian resort are 5 stars for rooms, service, value and cleanliness. It is so... perfect for our family. This was our third vacation trip to Golden Bear Cottages."

"My family of six had a blast @BigBear. We stayed at Golden Bear Cottages #7KnottyPine cottage. We went to spend my daughters 3rd birthday. She's the only girl we have so we wanted to try something different away from all the contaminated air down here in Los Angeles. My kids played like monkeys even though I was a little scared when I heard a bear getting close to the trash cans. I had a lot of fun (am 27 years old and I was acting like a 10 year old). We are planning to go back on January and have already made a reservation for a big family cabin. All we can say is thanks to Lisa for answering every single question (in English and Spanish) we were asking. They are very friendly people and I recommend this place for your family too."

"We give our favorite family friendly destination in Big Bear Lake a top rating - a 5 star review for the best place to stay. We always love to go back for another great retreat in Big Bear at Golden Bear Cottages. This is just a sample of why we have a family reunion up there every summer. We have stayed at the Golden Bear Cottages for at least the past 12 years. They have every type of big cabin or small cottage to accommodate both our big family as well as our small family's individual needs. There is a lot do do for the kids, family movie night at the pool, swimming, ping pong, basketball, sand lot volleyball, horse shoes, and there is even a great playground for our smaller children. And, they have the best service! A couple of years ago we had car problems and were stuck for two extra days. Lisa, who works in the office, was able to find me a great mechanic and helped me get my car fixed and on the rode again. The staff at Golden Bear also made sure I had a place to stay while my car was in the shop, and they gave me a great rate since we were stranded. This is the best place to stay in Big Bear. "We chose to stay at Golden Bear Cottages.
This was my 2nd visit to Big Bear this year. Before finding Golden Bear Cottages we were at a different place last February and stayed at a cabin, which was extremely expensive, extremely small with a bed that was very uncomfortable. This time we chose to stay at Golden Bear Cottages! The cabin was cute with plenty of space for my family of four. The cabin was very clean & smelled great with a nice big jacuzzi tub in it! Our teenage son slept on the pull out futon sofa bed and said it was one of the most comfortable beds he's ever slept in. The staff (Lisa & Lenny) were very friendly and you can tell they take pride in running their business & keeping customers happy. There is a common area with picnic tables and grass with plenty of playing room for the kids to play. The kids enjoyed the pool & my husband enjoyed the spa. Would highly recommend these cabins to family & friends and we will definitely stay there again. Golden Bear cottages is the best non hotel in Big Bear lake. Thank you Golden Bear Cottages for making our return visit to Big Bear a positive one! We are coming again soon to visit our new friends at Golden Bear!"

"Posted on TripAdvisor: Our group had a great time at Golden Bear Cottages. We took up many different cabins throughout the resort. The grounds were clean and inviting. Plenty of space for all of us to hang outside together, kids to play, grills, pool/spa, and just enjoy ourselves. My cabin was a lot more roomy than most places I get to stay. It's a rustic feel and not the hilton, but I didn't expect that at all. The technology is a little out of date, but I never needed it so didn't care. Very friendly staff that was inviting and helpful throughout the stay. The area is just beautiful and the climate was great. I would definitely go back some day and do it again."

"Stayed at the Golden Bear cottages resort this past week for a group get together. Cabins were clean and comfortable. The thing that really made the cabins and trip enjoyable were the friendly staff. They were exceptionally courteous and friendly and really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and valued as customers and patrons. All the basic amenities worked just fine - water got hot quickly, beds were comfortable and clean, Wi-Fi was free, etc... They were also great helping us find local places to eat and figuring out activities to do. They even helped make adjustments so we could stay a day longer in our cabin than originally expected. We are also posting our top notch review on TripAdvisor and Yelp"

"I made my first trip to California and tried this place at the recommendation of a friend. It was a great experience, the staff was helpful and friendly. They recommended GOOD places to eat and even offered coupons. This review will also be posted on TripAdvisor for other family's and groups to find out about this great Big Bear Lake resort. "I didn't know what to expect as I was part of a group retreat booking and had ever been here before. My initial impression was that it was an absolutely beautiful setting. Just rustic enough to feel relaxed, and professionally staffed enough for me to feel well taken care of. Kinda like a personal cabin where someone else cleans and provides fresh towels and everything. I stayed in August 2013, and traveled on business. I give Golden Bear Cottages resort a top rating."

"This is a historic rustic Cottages/Cabins Resort. Its not your traditional chain lodging with the fancy star ratings and valet parking. It's family owned, managed, and operated. Can't ask for more of an ownership stake from the people who owns it. Very comfortable, in walking distances from the local mountain convenience store, marina, park, and mom/pop shopping. Best non hotel place to stay in Big Bear Lake. The owners are very knowledgeable of the Big Bear area. They work with local businesses for discounts for their guests. I believe, its a 20% discount at the Marina for rentals, and even more at the wake board park. We'll be back for our next years family reunion. Guest Tip: Ask for business coupons in the area that Golden Bear Cottages have partnered with for other great guest discounts."

Perfect. A great getaway. Cabins are clean and comfortable, friendly staff, and more! This resort has plenty to offer. Pet friendly cabins, pools, WI - FI, cabin spas! We don't have time to stay the night this time, but would never drive through without stopping to see Don and Karen Di Carlo. Love them like family. Our family found this resort cozy and the family staff helpful. Very happy with the cottage we had, it was cozy, very clean and good kitchen equipment. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay there the next time we go back to Big Bear. We stayed in November 2011, and traveled with our family. Golden Bear is a good value. The location and sleep quality is very good. This is the best place to stay with a family in Big Bear'."

The first time we went to Big Bear lake we were looking for a clean family vacation retreat, and we really found a good one here. We truly enjoyed the hospitality at Golden Bear Cottages. Our 3 children were constantly in and out of the office to borrow sports equipment and ask questions about when the lifts open and so many other things, and the great people there make them feel comfortable each time. Their request was that we return to Golden Bear every year for the holidays. We have already booked a three bedroom cottage for our extended family for this Thanksgiving. "The cabin was clean and just as comfortable as we had hoped. I love this place! First time coming here and I had the best experience. The girl at the front was very helpful and sweet. The cabin was huge! I was shocked to walk in to a 2 story cabin with 7 beds. It was so cozy! Everything I needed for cooking was provided. They even had a bbq in my backyard. I'll definitely be back :) We also posted our review on Yahoo and Yelp"
