"Just what we needed!
We have done many day trips up the Mountain, but this was the first 3 night stay.
There are SO MANY places to chose from in the Big Bear area, and I chose Golden Bear based upon Lisa who actually answered the phone with my questions. We didn't want a room in a hotel, and I needed a Non-Pet Friendly place to sleep and relax.
I can't speak for all the other Cottages, but # 18 Grizzley's Den reminded me of places my family stayed back in the day in Wisconsin on fishing trips.
It's an older rustic looking cabin, but it was clean and completely restored, not a cobweb in the cottage, had enough room for two, and just what we needed.
If you want a new hotel type place, then go there. but if you want a cool, historic place to stay, then I have no problem recommending this place. It has fabulous TempurPedic beds that allowed us to sleep so restfully.
It's Glamping is what the Wife wanted, and Glamping is what we got.
Bonus was the big hot tub by the pool.
Don in the office was a pretty cool Guy too... I also posted this on Trip Advisor with TOP RATING"

"Thanksgiving holiday: We found Golden Bear Cottages an excellent place for a Thanksgiving family vacation.
We stayed for a five day family vacation at the Golden Bear Cottages resort. During our stay our kids and my wife were in and out of the office and gift shop daily. We got to know the whole staff it seems. Everyone was helpful and attentive to every request. We had to keep going back for the Wi-Fi log-in info because my kids kept loosing it, and they came back to the cabin every time with a smile on their faces saying that the people were so nice. Our cabin #22 had the best beds beds we have ever slept in (better than home). I asked about the beds and the owner said they had just replaced all the queen beds in April with Tempur Pedic mattresses. The appliances were nice, the kitchen clean and amenities were complete so we could cook our Thanksgiving feast and the custom rustic log design furniture belong in a mountain cabin. The maids were efficient and always kept the cabin clean. We had a wonderful and reasonably priced family vacation. Thank you for everything!
Seasonal Tip: The outdoor laundry is closed starting in October. The heated pool closes in late October too, but the outdoor spa is open year-round. We also posted this review of our wonderful stay at Golden Bear Cottages resort on Tripadvisor"

"Thank you for your email and your words. My family and I enjoyed our vacation time at Golden Bear Cottages. We really liked your place and everything was fine. We had no problems with the facilities, in fact everything was great and worked well.
My wife and me were celebrating our 25th anniversary... And the only thing we've missed was the snow, but we are sure that The Lord is in control even with this details.

"Excellent value - just a few things missing:
We booked a cabin here in the last minute and expected very little from it because of the great rate but in the end, we concluded that this is a great resort. The whole complex is very well thought out with many amenities that even in winter you will find them appealing. The hot Jacuzzi was still open even though it was snowing outside! That is something!! They accept pets in some cabins and that is also a big plus. The cabin itself was bigger than we expected, we were only 3 people but the cabin could accommodate easily 6 or more. Fireplace, flat screen TV and kitchen appliances, they all worked well and they were very useful during our stay. Just a few things to note: we stayed in cabin 7 (knotty pine?). The kitchen tools and pans were few and not the most appropriate for us. The electrical outlets in the kitchen were misplaced, but that is expected in historic properties. There was no basic condiments here, like salt and pepper. Cooking oil would have been nice too, but no such thing. Not enough glasses, if you happen to have full capacity, bring your own cups.
The location is not too close to downtown attractions or to the ski resorts, you have to drive there. In summertime, Boulder Bay Park proximity is a big plus, but in winter, not many attractions nearby.
Overall it was a very good stay, we enjoyed it and we look forward to come back (now that we know what extra to bring with us)."

"This property is owned and managed by a family, and their pride and commitment to their customers shows in several ways. Our cabin was completely furnished with everything needed for a getaway,fireplace in each cabin, WI-FI, guest handbook filled with things to do in Big Bear and discounts at certain establishments, kids playground, basketball court, volleyball court, shuffleboard, ping pong,, badminton and much more, Pool and Spa, it is peaceful, clean and quiet with a homey feel. "Rustic Big Bear Lake Lodge with Most Comfortable Beds.
My experience with Golden Bear Cottages was phenomenal. Lisa and the front desk staff went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. The cabin was very clean. In additional, the lodge had Tempurpedic beds in every one of our three bedrooms. I haven't stayed at lodges that have these type of quality beds. Overall, I highly recommend this property and we will return again soon."

We just spent a glorious perfect weekend in the Golden Bear Manor. There were 21 people, families with small children, young adults, teens and tweens. There was plenty of space, a fully equipped kitchen, lovely patio for our meals, for a s'mores fest and for great conversation under the stars. We could not have had a better time except to have been snowed in so we'd have to stay longer. Thank you Golden Bear staff for helping us make some wonderful memories!!"

I loved that I had a full kitchen to cook for my family. The cabin had lot more space and room than I thought. Staff, they were very friendly. Cabins are clean and not too far from the village. I loved that they had a playground and basketball court for the kids. They also had a bbq grill with the charcoal available!!! The only thing I didn’t not like was having to deal with someone parking in my spot! We were absolutely happy with our cabin and will definitely return! Spent quality time with my kids and grand daughter and made great memories in big bear !!"

Friendly clean and roomy took the hole family my 6 children one girlfriend and 2 grandchildren and they had a blast and the cabin was great and everyone was super friendly . Loved it so much we can’t wait to go back. Our last stay at a different cabin property was not as good, it was smaller then advertised. This cabin at Golden Bear Cottages was great had a full kitchen and even provided us with coffee."

"Dear Don, Karen, Lisa and Len,
The Cunningham clan, gathering from several western states, had a great family reunion at your cottages last week, and it was an ideal location for all ages because of the pool, playground, fire pit and covered outdoor tables for our potluck. I was staying in Cabin 6, and as I mentioned to your on-site handyman, we think we left one of our door keys on a table by the pool. When I returned to look a few hours later, I found my sunglasses on that table, but not the key. Thanks for a good Samaritan that found the key and turned it in to the office. I left our other key in the early-checkout box when we departed at 6 a.m. Monday.
Thank you for your kindness and hospitality. We definitely will consider Golden Bear Cottages when we plan our next family reunion in 2021.
