Our first Bible message for the month comes from Romans 10: 8-13.
'God's message is near you, on your lips and in your heart... the message of faith. If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. The scripture says, 'Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.' This includes everyone, because there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles; God is the same Lord of all and richly blesses all who call to him...'Everyone who calls out to the Lord will be saved'.
Some months ago, the Shalom Alecheim Synagogue (a wonderfully unique group from a spanish speaking Jewish synagogue in LA) had a retreat at Golden Bear Cottages... They asked us to read John 4:22. After reading this passage, we asked them to read the entire story of Jesus with the Samaritian women (John 4: 1-42) to understand the real meaning of this Bible story: Jesus is really the Savior of the world. We enjoyed our discussions with these people of God. The next day we had another discussion about Jesus as the Bread of Life from (John 6: 25-59).
And Isaiah was even bolder when he says, "I was found by those who were not looking for me; I appeared to those who were not asking for me" Romans 10: 20... and again later in chapter 11, verse 13-15 "I am speaking now to you Gentiles... Perhaps I can make the people of my own race jealous, and so be able to save some of them. For when they were rejected, mankind was changed from God's enemies into his friends. What will it be then, when they are accepted? It will be life for the dead!"

During this time of war and fighting in the world, try to remember that any of us can fall into sin and hurt our brother. We as Christians have done it. Jews have done it. Budists have done it. Hindus have done it. And today with radical Islamic groups in the news with so much violence, please take time to read what Jesus had to say about fanatics and radical groups 2000 years ago...
ROMANS 16: 1-4," I have told you this so you will not give up your faith. You will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time will come when anyone who kills you will think that by doing this he is serving God. People will do these things to you because they have not known the Father or me. But I have told you this, so that when the time comes for them to do these things, you will remember what I told you".
and finally from ROMANS 12: 19-21, "Never take revenge, my friends, but instead let God'd anger do it. For the scripture says ' I will take revenge, I will pay back, says the Lord.' Instead, as the scripture says: 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for by doing this you will make him burn with shame.' Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good."

We have decided to reach out to family of guests and friends and ask you to do something that has been troubling us for a long time. Our nation has been on the slippery slope for a long time. If you look around, you will find corruption, greed, moral decay, and a steady move away from the things that made us great. The principles upon which this nation was founded are no longer our backbone. However, we can reverse this trend.
II Chronicles 7:14 in God's word states "If my people pray to me and repent and turn away from the evil they have been doing, I will hear them in heaven, forgive their sins, and make their land prosperous again." Good News Bible
We are convinced that we must pray for our nation and its leaders and ask for forgiveness. So we ask you to join us in this plea to our Lord. Would you please ask this prayer every day this month.
Imagine if this new story reaches only 100 persons and they each share it with ten others. We could lift up millions of prayers to God, our creator. He will hear us and, in faith, will answer.
Let us just add a quote from Ronald Reagan, "If we ever forget that we're one nation, under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
We truly believe this is why the United States of America is in the shape we are in today. Most people have forgotten that we are one nation, under God. Let us, as Christians, stand up and remind people of this. |
