SANTA CLAUS
INCORPORATED of Greater San Bernardino
The purpose of this annual retreat is to bring together knitters
and quilters and also teach new people to learn how to knit and
quilt, so that Santa Claus will have sufficient knitted sweaters
and quilts for babies and children in need. These gifts are given
out at the Santa Claus, Inc. warehouse during an annual week-long
distribution in December. This year's distribution dates are
scheduled for December 9 through 15, 2008. Santa Claus, Inc. has
been helping to provide needy families with Christmas gifts since
1952. It has served over 379,000 children since it began operation
55 years ago. It is one of San Bernardino County's oldest and
well respected charities. Photos of this year's events are
shown on this page and were taken by the ladies attending the
event.
In 2008 over two dozen women of all ages joined us at Golden Bear
Cottages for the 3 day event. Many knew how to knit or quilt, but
all enjoyed the fellowship while we expanded our circle of
volunteers and produce new items for this great charity. If you
want to brush up your skills or learn to knit from professional
knitters, and also learn to quilt, please call and sign up for next
year's annual event. Dates will be announced soon. This charity
event is limited to persons willing to knit or quilt for this
wonderful charity.
The 2008 session was begun on Monday afternoon April 28 at 1 p.m.
for a lunceon and welcome party. The knitting and quilting
continued throughout the evening. We had another session on Tuesday
morning, stopped for lunch and then continued throughout the day.
The retreat wrapped-up on Wednesday.
Lodging cost for this exciting event will be again sponsored by
Golden Bear Cottages. Child care will be available at a nominal
cost. Space is limited, so please contact us soon. Your only cost
for this charity event will be to pay a small amount (about $10)for
lunch each day and a few dollars for some basic supplies, so
everyone who wants to come and participate will be able to afford
to attend this wonderful charity retreat to benefit Santa Claus,
Inc. (a registered California 501(c)3 non-profit
corporation).
You may call Karen DiCarlo at 909-887-4422 for more details, or
