TODAY- Sunny Skies, Excellent Coverage, and The Deepest Snow Base
Big Bear Mountain Resorts continues to have the best snow conditions in California. Here's why:
- In November and December a few unique weather patterns brought slider storms that only centered over Big Bear Lake, and no where else! Now, February looks like great snow again for Big Bear and so does March!
- The unique snowstorms dumped three feet of snow to build a quality snow base at both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.
- The best snowmaking equipment and expert snowmakers make REAL SNOW at every given opportunity.
- Last weekend snowmaking conditions were excellent in Big Bear with more than 30 hours of snowmaking. This provided a fresh layer of snow to the current three-foot base to enhance the overall skiing and riding experience.

Make plans to come up and enjoy the white stuff.
Special Deals and Lots of Snow
- Despite the lack of snow in other California regions, Big Bear has been fortunate with snowmaking and early season snowfalls providing snow depths of 2-3 feet, very good snow coverage and nearly 100% open runs- that's almost 438 skiable acres!

Today, enjoy the sunny skies and cool 39 degree temps. Some runs may open late or may be closed due to snowmaking. Looking for something the whole family can enjoy? Look no further. They will make some great new friends and we'll teach them how to ski and ride; a skill that will keep them happy for the rest of their lives. As for you, you deserve some time to do whatever you like. Whether it's taking some cruisers down Log Chute or racing down The Bowl, today is your day, make you happy. - There are some exciting new specials at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. Snow reports. Snow play for Big Bear. Learn to ski/snowboard in Big Bear.
With all the snow we've gotten already, it's hard to believe that winter is just starting, but we're kicking it off with a 3 foot snow base,98% of our runs are open and excellent snow coverage. The weather up here is amazing with clear blue skies forecast all the way into next week! After the past couple days of cold, temps are starting to rise just in time for the holidays. Skiing and Snowboarding is a great way to spend your days off. Make reservations online, arrive early for parking and hit up Chairs 5, 7 and 10 for the shortest lines. We have excellent coverage and the deepest snow base in California. Remember that your lift ticket is also good at Bear Mountain, so hop on the free shuttle and check out the People's Park.
When snow does fall this month, and it will, most of it will fall on the dark tall bar or risky days, likely in March and into April because of a weakening La Nina weather pattern. GOOD LATE SEASON SNOW IS VERY POSSIBLE FOR THIS SNOW SEASON!

For 2011-2012, new fan guns have been added at the ski areas in Big Bear.
"The guns are more energy efficient and we will be able to make three times as much snow,"
said Chris Riddle, director of marketing at Big Bear Mountain Resorts.
Although the economic downturn continues to impact the San Bernardino mountain area, ski areas at
Big Bear Lake are holding last year's prices and anticipating a good ski/snowboarding season ahead.

| DIRECTIONS TO BIG BEAR LAKE
1) Hwy SR18 from the San Bernardino area. Begin at the Waterman exit from the 210 freeway (the approximate travel time from this point in good weather is one hour). Go north towards Lake Arrowhead, then continue on by following the signs to Big Bear Lake. When you get to the Dam, go straight ahead for 2.3 miles to Golden Bear Cottages. The office is on the right. NOTE: this road is considered too narrow and curvy for some inexperienced mountain drivers and for passengers prone to motion sickness.
2) Hwy SR38 from the Redlands area. Begin at the Hwy 38 exit from the 10 freeway in Redlands (the approximate travel time from this point in good weather is one and 1/2 hour). Go north on Orange Street about 1/2 mile to Lugonia. Turn right on Lugonia (which is SR38) and follow it through Mentone and up the mountain towards Big Bear. When you get to Big Bear, take a left on the main road and follow it along the lake. After about 10 miles you will see the Preforming Arts/Civic Center, our office is just 1/2 mile past it on the left. NOTE: this road is a bit longer, but except for about 7 miles, it is far less curvy. A favorite of many drivers because it is a beautiful senic drive.
3) Hwy SR18 from the High Desert. Begin at the Bear Valley Road Exit from the 15 freeway (the approximate travel time from this point in good weather is one and 1/4 hour). Beginning at Lucerne Valley, take Hwy 18 towards Big Bear. When you get to the top of the mountain, go right along the Lake towards Big Bear. When you get to Stanfield Cut-off, go over Big Bear Lake and turn right (West) towards the Dam. We are about 6 miles just past the Preforming Arts/Civic Center. The office is on the left side of the road. NOTE: This is the best road for guests traveling from Las Vegas (less than 3 hours for the total drive). This road only has about 6 miles of curvy road. The rest is an easy drive. It is a good alternative.
4) Hwy SR330 OPEN AGAIN... From the 210 FWY go north on the 330 from the 210 Freeway for 15.7 miles to Running Springs. When you get to Running Springs, continue straight towards Big Bear Lake (the road name changes to the SR18, but it is the same road). Follow SR18 for about 12 miles towards Big Bear Lake until you get to the Dam. When you get to the Dam, go straight for 2.3 miles to Golden Bear Cottages. The office is on the right. NOTE: This is the most direct route from the Inland Empire, Orange Co., LA and San Diego. It is a very good road, but a bit curvy for some passengers prone to motion sickness.
